Love Song

A Valentines Day gift for my other half <3 

This was done on canvas with oil pastels.  First time working working on canvas actually, and boy was that different for me.  I had no idea what to do for him, and I don't like just buying some trinket from wally-world or some other place that will just gather dust and go unnoticed.  My mom gave me the idea of drawing or painting something, for him instead.  I settled a wolf howling at the moon with a winter-scape in the background.  I was able to cheat a bit, the canvas that wouldn't stay/be colored (remained white), I think it helped to look like snow or clouds giving the picture some additional dimension without the effort, not to say I didn't put any effort into it, but I was happy with the effect it gave and didn't want to try to change it.  

I've learned lessons with my past workings; I planned ahead and sketched out what I was wanting to do first, and I worked from the background forward.  While I was hoping for better with the wolf, I once again surprise myself.  I should have tried better to blend the lines between the lighter and darker furs; making them seem more natural as opposed to hard, straight lines that this picture shows.  I also wish I could have made the moon glow better, but I wasn't sure how to do that... I tried to, but it didn't work out like I wanted it to. 

As with my last submission, I'm happiest with my trees <3  I probably should have put in a dead log somewhere in the snow, but I liked it how it was.  Here's to hoping that he likes it too.
